curried sausage

The currywurst (curry sausage) recipe has many versions, this is a traditional, street one, that you can eat in Munich, a version that I built after consulting some recipes and making some changes and that was approved by my husband who was able to Enjoy it on a trip to Germany.

A different and attractive way to eat on a Saturday night with the family, between anecdotes and laughter, enjoying other flavors and why not, imagine that we are in one of the oldest traditional still lifes in Germany.

For 6 people

  • 6 large German Bratwurst sausages (chorizo type)
  • 2 onions
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 500 gr crushed tomato (can be bottled)
  • 1 spoon of curry
  • 1 tablespoon of ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon of mustard
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

How is it done?

Chop the onion and garlic and sauté over the heat with a little oil until the onion is tender, add the curry, paprika and turmeric so the flavors intensify, add the crushed tomato and cook over low heat for a few minutes.

Add the vinegar, mustard, ketchup and salt, pepper, (you can add half a teaspoon of hot sauce) and sugar, cook until thick and dark.

While we brown the sausages on a griddle or frying pan.

We tried the sauce, which has a flavor of spiced ketchup or curry ketchup, if necessary we add any of the condiments,

It can be served by cutting the sausages into slices or whole with their sauce on top and French fries.
